Lunchbox Ideas to keep your children on top form all day at school
      
Try these fillings for sandwiches made from wholemeal, granary, soda or wholemeal pitta bread:
      
Chicken, avocado, sweetcorn and mayo*
Grated cheddar cheese with chopped celery and apple
Turkey breast with cranberry sauce and salad
Cottage cheese with beetroot
Tuna with chopped peppers and mayo*
Peanut butter with grated carrot and raisins
Cream cheese mixed with slivers of smoked salmon and chopped cucumber

Boiled egg mashed with spring onions and mayo*
      
(* Use light mayonnaise where possible)
      
Instead of crisps try:
      
A small pot of hummus with strips of wholemeal pitta for dipping
Yoghurt mixed with fresh herbs, with red pepper for dipping
Portions of cubed cheddar or Edam cheese
A small bag of unsalted nuts (if your child is old enough not to choke and has no nut allergies)
Celery sticks with peanut butter or light cream cheese
A small pot of dry breakfast cereal
A small bag of lightly salted pretzels
      
Instead of chocolate or sweets, try these:
      
A box of raisins
An orange cut into quarters
A small bag of dried apricots
A homemade flapjack or bran muffin
A slice of homemade carrot cake
A pot of mixed berries
A pot of fruit yoghurt or fromage frais
A pot of fruit puree
Salad of peach, pineapple and grapes
A kiwi or passion fruit
